description>

Spot Radio is a portable low-power FM radio station that packs into a suitcase, for easy set-up and broadcast from various locations. It can be made available to members of a local community, as a tool for social and political exchange, reminding us of radio's historic function of making connections, inciting action, and propagating opinion.
In today's environments, radio waves are both omnipresent and elusive, existing everywhere around us, in a continuum with many other electro-magnetic phenomena. Yet radio is also tied to a physical location, bodily constrained by the resistance of air and equipment -- and these are very limits that make it a particularly effective medium for connection in real time and space.
As elsewhere in my work, this project aims to focus attention by tuning or tweaking the phenomena that surround us.
