description>
A site-specific
installation for "Tout le temps / Every Time," la Biennale de Montréal
2000. A large quantity of books abondoned on site by the former tenant
(a discount bookstore) was used to build two sets of grandstands facing
each other across a small room, like an arena or a parliament. The steps/seats
of one sides are blue, the other side of various colours. An overhead
ledge above one set of stands houses a provisional and changing library
of books separated out from the mass. The space becomes a place for reading
and, in its oppositional formation, for discussion and debate. The remaining
books are stacked loosely in the adjoining room as further raw material
potentially to be added to the library or used for further building.
